Amos Sage Tryon was born on May 16, 1791 in Wethersfield, Connecticut, USA, he was the son of Josiah Tryon and Mary Warner.
Amos married Sally Barton and they had five children. Amos built a house that it it said Sally refused to move into, the house became known as Tryon's Folly.
Amos Tryon died March 19, 1874 and is buried in Lewiston, New York.
