Minnie Mudge worked tirelessly in the 5 acres of market garden on Paisley Road.
It was not uncommon to see Minnie up on top of the ladder working in the apple, pear, plum and cherry trees in the orchard. Bushes of red currents, black currents and gooseberries dotted the rows through out the garden. Raspberry bushes and a strawberry patch were favorites.
They grew many types of vegetables in the garden including a large patch of aspargus, lots of rhubarb, onions, beets, carrots and potatoes and corn were planted way out back of the garden.
In addition to fruits, berries and vegetables, Minnie had extensive flower beds and she sold fresh cut flowers.
The Mudges also kept pigs and chickens.
