The following was taken from a letter Uncle Bert wrote to Aunt Helen March 9, 1968

"Yes those were the horse and buggy days, one didn't just go for a two, three or four hundred mile jaunt on a weekend just for the scenery as we do now. Grandpa (William Chapman Mudge) & I cycled over to St. George once to the Sturges's and that was some event. We boys used to hire a horse and buggy and go over to Hespler, Rockwood or some of those small towns for an "exciting trip". Well those were the days when a stroll up and down Wyndham Street and a 10 cent dish of ice cream at the Kandy Kitchen made an exciting Saturday evening, might even get to walk one of the girls home afterwards."
