On 6 May 1911 John Halliburton and his eldest son William board the SS Laurentic in Liverpool headed to Canada. They arrived in Montreal 13 May 1911 and made their way to Guelph by train. They both got jobs with the Guelph Cartage Company as teamsters and found a house which allowed the rest of the family to follow a couple of months later.
