How is the Smith Family Related
Searching for Uncle Fred and Aunt Ada

We have a photo of the Smith family of Hamilton Ontario taken in the early to mid 1900's.
In the photo from left to right is Owen, Vivian, Aunt Ada, Uncle Fred, Norval and Dorothy.
We have several photos over several years as the children are growing up taken with the Cunningham family of Erin township.
I do not seem to be able to find the connection between the Smiths and Cunninghams. I was thinking that Fred and Ada may not actually be an uncle and aunt. I could use any assistance in learning more about the Smith family, the Cunningham family and their relationship.

1903 - Oliver Cunningham was born.
1893 - Albert Bertram Mudge was born.
2001 - Nichole Elizabeth Catherine Macdonald was born.
1891 - David Cunningham was born.
